Viele Unternehmen befassen sich mit Compliance und Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) getrennt voneinander. Dies mag zum einen der Historie der beiden Themen geschuldet sein, zum anderen aber auch der organisatorischen Verortung vonseiten insbesondere großer Unternehmen, die Compliance häufig der Rechtsabteilung und CSR der Kommunikationsabteilung zuordnen. Durch die isolierte Betrachtung der Themen bleiben aber nicht nur potenzielle Synergien ungenutzt, es werden auch unnötige Konflikte und Redundanzen erzeugt, die sich durch eine integrierte Herangehensweise vermeiden ließen. Bezogen auf die Umsetzung wird ein integriertes Vorgehen durch eine Reihe von Instrumenten begünstigt, die per se sowohl CSR- als auch compliancerelevante Themen ansprechen. Dass eine, aus theoretischer Sicht notwendige und sinnvolle Verknüpfung der beiden Themen auch in der Praxis künftig an Bedeutung gewinnen wird, lässt sich bereits heute an den letzten Überarbeitungen der fünf „großen“ internationalen CSR-Standards bzw. Rahmenwerken erkennen, die allesamt Themen ansprechen, die klassischerweise sowohl dem CSR- als auch dem Compliancemanagement zugeordnet werden können.
The article opens with brief examples of the varied contexts in which professionals with expert knowledge of intercultural communication are commissioned
by organisations to help improve organisational and individual performance.
The development needs that are evident in these contexts entail a broader repertoire of competencies than those generally reflected in the term intercultural communication skills, and so the next section elaborates on the concept of intercultural interaction competence (ICIC), reporting on the numerous sub-competencies which go to make up the ability to perform joint and purposeful activity effectively and appropriately across cultures.
The third section reports on approaches to developing the ICIC of members of organisations, discussing desirable framework conditions for the development
intervention, its possible goals, the nature of the cognitive, affective and behavioural development outcomes which can be achieved, and the content, methods and tools available to the intercultural developer.
The article finishes with a brief consideration of the qualification profile of interculturalists engaged in this kind of work, pointing out that a multi-disciplinary background will enable interculturalists to meet a broad range of organisational and human resource development needs in the area of intercultural communication which go beyond the ‘mere’ development of communicative foreign-language skills.
New Technology-Based Firms (NTBFs) learn their business in the early-stages of their life-cycle. As a central element of the entrepreneurial learning process, the business model describes the value-creation functions that are conceptualized in different stages of the NTBF’s life-cycle. Transaction relations connect the model with the business reality and ideally mature in strength over time to a functioning value-network. This chapter describes the development of a research design that determines, extracts, and evaluates semantics constructs of this entrepreneurial learning out of a convenient sample and three cohorts of business plans submitted to a business plan award between 2008 and 2010. The analysis shows empirical evidence for the survival and growth of those NTBFs that exhibit a balanced status of entrepreneurial learning in the maturity of the value-network that can be characterized as early startup-stage. The empirical findings of the network theory based business plan analysis will allow for a better explanation of the performance in the entrepreneurial process that is discussed for NTBFs based on theory of organizational learning.
Stress is becoming an important topic in modern life. The influence of stress results in a higher rate of health disorders such as burnout, heart problems, obesity, asthma, diabetes, depressions and many others. Furthermore individual’s behavior and capabilities could be directly affected leading to altered cognition, inappropriate decision making and problem solving skills. In a dynamic and unpredictable environment, such as automotive, this can result in a higher risk for accidents. Different papers faced the estimation as well as prediction of drivers’ stress level during driving. Another important question is not only the stress level of the driver himself, but also the influence on and of a group of other drivers in the near area. This paper proposes a system, which determines a group of drivers in a near area as clusters and it derives the individual stress level. This information will be analyzed to generate a stress map, which represents a graphical view about road section with a higher stress influence. Aggregated data can be used to generate navigation routes with a lower stress influence to decrease stress influenced driving as well as improve road safety.

Geographieunterricht ist in besonderem Maße prädestiniert, Mensch-Umwelt- und Mensch-Mitwelt-Beziehungen bewusst zu machen. Hierzu soll dieser Band beitragen, denn Musik wirkt ganzheitlich und lässt uns geographische Sachverhalte nicht nur visuell wahrnehmen, sondern macht sie akustisch "fühlbar" und bringt somit eine neue Erfahrungsdimension in den Unterricht. Kapitel 9 beginnt mit einer kurzen historischen Einführung und beschreibt dann nach einer ersten Klassifizierung das Funktionsprinzip und die thermodynamischen Grundlagen der direkten Umwandlung chemischer in elektrische Energie. Es folgen die verschiedenen Wirkungsgraddefinitionen und Verlustursachen und das sich daraus ergebende typische Betriebsverhalten einer Brennstoffzelle mit höherem Wirkungsgrad im Teillastbereich. Es werden die Anwendungsgebiete, die notwendigen Grundkomponenten und der Stand der Entwicklung der verschiedenen Typen AFC, PEFC, PAFC, MCFC und SOFC besprochen, Vor- und Nachteile diskutiert und einige ausgeführte Anlagen vorgestellt.

Kapitel 2 stellt kurz die verschiedenen Energieformen mechanisch, thermisch, chemisch etc. vor und das Prinzip von der Erhaltung der (Gesamt-) Energie. Die Möglichkeit zur Umwandlung von thermischer Energie in nutzbare mechanische Energie durch Kreisprozesse, mit dem theoretischen Carnot-Prozess als Obergrenze der Umwandelbarkeit, wird erläutert. Die Angabe der Größenordnung des regenerativen Energieangebots und des anthropogenen Umsatzes und die Unterscheidung zwischen Primär- und Sekundärenergien schließen das Kapitel ab.

This Chapter introduces parameterized, or parametric, Model Order Reduction (pMOR). The Sections are offered in a prefered order for reading, but can be read independently. Section 5.1, written by Jorge Fernández Villena, L. Miguel Silveira, Wil H.A. Schilders, Gabriela Ciuprina, Daniel Ioan and Sebastian Kula, overviews the basic principles for pMOR. Due to higher integration and increasing frequency-based effects, large, full Electromagnetic Models (EM) are needed for accurate prediction of the real behavior of integrated passives and interconnects. Furthermore, these structures are subject to parametric effects due to small variations of the geometric and physical properties of the inherent materials and manufacturing process. Accuracy requirements lead to huge models, which are expensive to simulate and this cost is increased when parameters and their effects are taken into account. This Section introduces the framework of pMOR, which aims at generating reduced models for systems depending on a set of parameters.

The person’s heart rate is an important indicator of their health status. A heart rate that is too high or too low could be a sign of several different diseases, such as a heart disorder, obesity, asthma, or many others. Many devices require users to wear the device on their chest or place a finger on the device. The approach presented in this paper describes the principle and implementation of a heart rate monitoring device, which is able to detect the heart rate with high precision with the sensor integrated in a wristband. One method to measure the heart rate is the photoplethysmogram technique. This method measures the change of blood volume through the absorption or reflection of light. A light emitting diode (LED) shines through a thin amount of tissue. A photo-diode registers the intensity of light that traverses the tissue or is reflected by the tissue. Since blood changes its volume with each heartbeat, the photo-diode detects more or less light from the LED. The device is able to measure the heart rate with a high precision, it has low performance and hardware requirements, and it allows an implementation with small micro-controllers.
Model Order Reduction

This chapter offers an introduction to Model Order Reduction (MOR). It gives an overview on the methods that are mostly used. It also describes the main concepts behind the methods and the properties that are aimed to be preserved. The sections are in a prefered order for reading, but can be read independentlty. Section 4.1, written by Michael Striebel, E. Jan W. ter Maten, Kasra Mohaghegh and Roland Pulch, overviews the basic material for MOR and its use in circuit simulation. Issues like Stability, Passivity, Structure preservation, Realizability are discussed. Projection based MOR methods include Krylov-space methods (like PRIMA and SPRIM) and POD-methods. Truncation based MOR includes Balanced Truncation, Poor Man’s TBR and Modal Truncation.Section 4.2, written by Joost Rommes and Nelson Martins, focuses on Modal Truncation. Here eigenvalues are the starting point. The eigenvalue problems related to large-scale dynamical systems are usually too large to be solved completely. The algorithms described in this section are efficient and effective methods for the computation of a few specific dominant eigenvalues of these large-scale systems. It is shown how these algorithms can be used for computing reduced-order models with modal approximation and Krylov-based methods.Section 4.3, written by Maryam Saadvandi and Joost Rommes, concerns passivity preserving model order reduction using the spectral zero method. It detailedly discusses two algorithms, one by Antoulas and one by Sorenson. These two approaches are based on a projection method by selecting spectral zeros of the original transfer function to produce a reduced transfer function that has the specified roots as its spectral zeros. The reduced model preserves passivity.Section 4.4, written by Roxana Ionutiu, Joost Rommes and Athanasios C. Antoulas, refines the spectral zero MOR method to dominant spectral zeros. The new model reduction method for circuit simulation preserves passivity by interpolating dominant spectral zeros. These are computed as poles of an associated Hamiltonian system, using an iterative solver: the subspace accelerated dominant pole algorithm (SADPA). Based on a dominance criterion, SADPA finds relevant spectral zeros and the associated invariant subspaces, which are used to construct the passivity preserving projection. RLC netlist equivalents for the reduced models are provided.Section 4.5, written by Roxana Ionutiu and Joost Rommes, deals with synthesis of a reduced model: reformulate it as a netlist for a circuit. A framework for model reduction and synthesis is presented, which greatly enlarges the options for the re-use of reduced order models in circuit simulation by simulators of choice. Especially when model reduction exploits structure preservation, we show that using the model as a current-driven element is possible, and allows for synthesis without controlled sources. Two synthesis techniques are considered: (1) by means of realizing the reduced transfer function into a netlist and (2) by unstamping the reduced system matrices into a circuit representation. The presented framework serves as a basis for reduction of large parasitic R/RC/RCL networks.
